According to the current research report from the World Bank, the world needs to invest $127 billion to build 217000 micro-grid constructed with a photovoltaic system to provide electricity for 500 million people worldwide by 2030.

A micro-grid is a generation and distribution system that primarily supplies power to remote settlements in a town or city consisting of hundreds or thousands of customers that are completely isolated from the grid. Micro-grids can supply power to remote homes, businesses, public institutions, and industrial customers such as telecom towers and large agricultural processing plants.

According to the World Bank's projections in its Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), there are currently 29,400 micro-grid planned around the world, 95% of which will be deployed in Africa and South Asia, including 99% of photovoltaic systems, which can provide electricity to more than 35 million people and will cost $9 billion.

"Today, more than ever, microgrids built with photovoltaic systems are a central solution to closing the energy access gap," explains Riccardo Puliti, Vice President, Infrastructure Department, World Bank. The World Bank has been ramping up support for micro-grid as part of its efforts to help countries develop integrated electrification."

Husk Power recently signed a $6 million debt agreement under the European Union-funded Electrification Financing Scheme for the construction of 80 micro-grid that will supply power to 80 communities in India and is expected to benefit 60,000 people.

The micro-grid has become the lowest-cost way to provide whole-day high-quality electricity for the towns off the grid or with frequent power outages.

Micro-grid operators can manage their micro-grid in a long distance,and they can install the electricity meters to allow the clients to pay for electricity when they use it. And 120 million tons of carbon emissions could be reduced every year if 490 million people worldwide adopt the micro-grid power.
