Currently the International Energy Agency PV Power System Program(IEA-PVPS)released a new guideline, in order to help the PV asset owner operate and maintain the scale of public utility PV system in different climate zone around the globe, according to the foreign media.

In the Guide to the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic power plants in different climates,the agency offers a series of PV system operational plan in view of the climate for four climate zones(mild, hot and dry, hot and humid, and high altitude and desert regions). This guide also takes into account of extreme case such as the flood,hurricanes and snowfall.

The guidelines emphasize that,“Preventive maintenance (PM) action plans that eliminate redundant activities can reduce costs.Preventive maintenance programs should seek to optimize PV system and O&M budgets based on the size, design, complexity and environment of the PV system."

At last, the guidelines warn that,even though the PV systems require much less maintain work than other types of generation assets, they still need maintenance.
